Playing Groups

Every day of the week, we have various groups playing on the course. To ensure you don’t miss out, we recommend checking with the club and booking online rather than just showing up.

The great news is we have a wide range of groups you can join for a round! If you’d like to play with one of our Women’s or Men’s groups, or if you’re new to golf or the area and are looking for a buddy, simply let us know in the office. We’ll be happy to connect you with the right person. Group information can also be found in the “playing groups” tab of our website.

Course Rules:

1. Keep up with the group in front. If they are playing quicker than you and you have a group behind waiting, step aside and wave them through.

2. Replace any divots that you take and press them down with your heel.

3. Repair any of your indents on the green with a pitch repair tool or tee.

4. If using a golf cart keep it well away from greens tees and green surrounds at all times.

5. Put an identifying mark on your ball with a permanent marker before you start play.

6. After playing out of a bunker, use the available rake to return the bunker to the condition it was before you played into it.

7. If you think that your shot MAY hit or reach another golfer anywhere on the course, shout “FORE” loud enough for them to hear clearly.

Hole in One:

If you are a Member and lucky enough to have a Hole in One, here is the Hole-in-one Guide for players and bar staff.

Background: All playing members pay a small insurance premium to help cover the cost of shouting fellow golfers to celebrate achievement of a hole-in-one.

Conditions: The hole-in-one must be achieved by a playing member of the Waikanae Golf Club when it is the intention of the player to play a full round, or in the case of 9-holers, a full 9 hole round. The hole-in-one must be achieved on the Waikanae Golf Course. The player’s card must be signed by the player and the marker who is playing with the achiever.

Entitlement

A hole-in-one trophy

To receive the above entitlement, the player must present their card to and inform the Office Manager of the achievement and leave the ball that was used (for purposes of mounting).

The Shout!

  • The player must be present for the shout.
  • The player must advise the barperson of the event.
  • The “shout” entitlement is to consist of the cost of a standard drink towards patrons’ drinks of choice, once only each, for as many as are currently in the Clubhouse while the member is present, to a maximum amount of $200.

The player may of course choose to cover additional costs. The Duty Bar Person may run a tab up to the entitled amount (for later reimbursement by the Club) after which the player must meet any additional costs.

Notes:

1. WGC Member getting a hole-in-one at another Club – WGC will pay $50 towards that members shout; receipts of a shout must be shown before the $50 will be paid.

2. Players from other Clubs must pay for their shout but should receive a receipt so they can claim at their Home Club.

3. Note; If the clubhouse bar is not open, there is no entitlement to a shout elswhere, or on any other day.
